ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Care for the Urinary System

Urology deals with the urinary system in both men and women — the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra — and the male reproductive system. Urinary problems are common, often uncomfortable, and sometimes embarrassing to discuss — but they are very treatable.

Our urology department treats everything from kidney stones (extremely common in our region) to prostate enlargement, urinary infections, and bladder problems. We use modern minimally invasive techniques wherever possible — meaning less pain and faster recovery.

We provide care in a respectful, private environment, at charitable rates, working closely with our nephrology team for comprehensive kidney and urinary care.

Urology FAQs

Severe pain in the side or back that comes in waves, sometimes with blood in urine or nausea, often signals a kidney stone. Come for evaluation — we confirm with imaging and decide treatment. Small stones may pass with medication and fluids; larger ones may need minimally invasive removal (URS/PCNL) or lithotripsy.

An enlarged prostate (common after 50) causes a weak urine stream, difficulty starting, frequent urination especially at night, and incomplete emptying. These are usually due to benign enlargement, but evaluation also rules out prostate cancer. Don’t ignore these symptoms — they are very treatable.

Blood in urine should always be evaluated, even if it happens once and is painless. Causes range from infections and stones to more serious conditions. Early assessment is important — please don’t ignore it or assume it will resolve on its own.

Many are. Techniques like URS and PCNL for stones, and TURP for prostate, are done through natural passages or small openings — no large cuts — meaning less pain and faster recovery. Your urologist explains the best approach for your condition.

As a charitable hospital, our consultation and surgery rates are kept well below corporate hospitals. CGHS/ESI/scheme patients are covered per entitlement, with subsidy support for needy families.
