ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Expert Care for the Nervous System

The brain, spinal cord and nerves control everything we do — so when something goes wrong, the effects can be frightening and disabling. Our neurology department diagnoses and treats disorders of the entire nervous system with precision and care.

We are especially focused on stroke — a medical emergency where every minute counts. Our rapid stroke protocol combines quick CT imaging and prompt treatment to save brain tissue and reduce lasting disability.

From recurring headaches and epilepsy to movement disorders and nerve problems, our neurologists provide accurate diagnosis using modern tests, and treatment plans tailored to each patient.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Neurology FAQs

Remember FAST: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty — Time to call emergency. Other signs include sudden numbness, confusion, trouble seeing, severe headache, or loss of balance. Stroke is an emergency — call our emergency number immediately. Treatment given within the first few hours dramatically improves recovery.

Occasional headaches are usually harmless. See a neurologist if headaches are severe, frequent, worsening, wake you from sleep, come with vision changes/vomiting/weakness, or are different from your usual pattern. Proper evaluation identifies the type and the right treatment.

Many people with epilepsy achieve complete seizure control with the right medication, allowing a normal life. Our neurologists use EEG and clinical evaluation to diagnose the seizure type accurately and tailor treatment. Regular follow-up helps optimise control.

We offer EEG (for epilepsy/seizures), nerve conduction studies and EMG (for nerve and muscle disorders), along with access to CT and MRI imaging. These help pinpoint the exact problem so treatment is accurate.

As a charitable hospital, our rates are kept well below corporate hospitals, and scheme patients (CGHS/ESI/etc.) are covered per entitlement. Our support desk assists needy families with subsidies.
