Reconstructive and corrective surgery to restore form and function — after burns, injuries, cancer surgery or congenital conditions. Our plastic surgeons help patients heal, recover function and regain confidence.
Plastic and reconstructive surgery is about restoration — rebuilding what injury, disease, burns or birth conditions have affected, and helping patients regain both function and confidence.
Our plastic surgery department focuses on reconstructive procedures: treating burns and their after-effects, reconstructing tissue after accidents or cancer surgery, repairing congenital conditions like cleft lip, and managing complex wounds that won’t heal.
We work closely with our oncology, surgery and orthopaedics teams — for example, reconstructing tissue after cancer removal — providing this specialised care at charitable rates that make it accessible to those who need it most.
Acute burns care and reconstruction of burn scars and contractures that limit movement.
Reconstruction after accidents and trauma, including skin grafts and flap surgery.
Repair of cleft lip and palate and other conditions present from birth.
Reconstructing tissue and form after cancer surgery, in coordination with oncology.
Reconstruction of hand and limb injuries to restore function.
Management of chronic, complex and non-healing wounds, including diabetic wounds.

No — that’s a common misunderstanding. Our department focuses on reconstructive plastic surgery: restoring function and form after burns, injuries, cancer surgery, and birth conditions. This is essential medical care that helps patients heal, move, and live normally — not cosmetic procedures.
Yes. Burn scars that tighten and limit joint movement (contractures) can often be released and reconstructed through surgery, restoring movement and function. The earlier such scars are evaluated, the better — but even old scars can be improved. Our surgeons assess what is possible for your situation.
Yes. Cleft lip and palate are repaired through surgery, usually staged at appropriate ages. Successful repair restores normal appearance, feeding and speech development. Bring your child for evaluation — our team will explain the treatment plan and timing.
These are reconstructive techniques to cover wounds and restore tissue. A skin graft moves a thin layer of skin to cover a wound; a flap moves tissue with its blood supply for deeper or complex defects. Your surgeon chooses the right technique based on your wound.
As a charitable hospital, we make this specialised care accessible — rates are kept low, and needy patients (especially burns victims and children with congenital conditions) are prioritised for charitable subsidy.
Consult our plastic & reconstructive surgery team for burns, wounds, congenital conditions or post-surgery reconstruction.
