Non-Invaise Cardiology

Treating heart disease without open surgery. Through tiny tubes guided into the heart’s blood vessels, our interventional cardiologists open blocked arteries, place stents and treat heart conditions — with rapid angioplasty for heart attacks that saves lives and reduces damage.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Fixing the Heart Through Tiny Tubes

Interventional cardiology treats heart disease using thin tubes (catheters) guided through blood vessels to the heart — no open-chest surgery needed. Through a small puncture in the wrist or groin, our cardiologists can reach the heart’s arteries to diagnose and treat blockages.

The most important of these is angioplasty — opening a blocked heart artery and placing a stent to keep it open. During a heart attack, doing this quickly (called primary PCI) restores blood flow, saves heart muscle, and saves lives. This is why our cath lab and cardiac team are ready round the clock.

Most procedures are done under local anaesthesia, with patients awake, and recovery is far faster than open surgery — many patients go home within a day or two, at charitable rates that make life-saving cardiac care affordable.

Procedures at a Glance

WHAT WE TREAT

Procedures & Conditions

Coronary Angiography

A dye test that maps the heart’s arteries to pinpoint blockages — the roadmap for treatment decisions.

Angioplasty & Stenting

Opening a narrowed or blocked heart artery with a balloon, then placing a stent to keep it open.

Primary PCI (Heart Attack)

Emergency angioplasty during a heart attack to restore blood flow quickly — every minute saves heart muscle.

Heart Attack Care

Rapid evaluation and treatment of heart attacks, including clot-busting and emergency angioplasty.

Pacemaker Implantation

Implanting pacemakers for slow or irregular heart rhythms, restoring a steady heartbeat.

Heart Failure & Angina

Catheter-based evaluation and treatment for chest pain (angina) and heart failure causes.

Interventional Cardiology FAQs

Angioplasty opens a blocked heart artery using a thin tube and a balloon, then places a stent — all through a small puncture in the wrist or groin, without opening the chest. Bypass surgery (CABG) is open-heart surgery that routes blood around blockages. Angioplasty has faster recovery and suits many patients; some complex cases need bypass. Your cardiologist advises which is right after angiography.

Call our emergency number or come immediately — do not drive yourself. Signs include chest pain/pressure, pain spreading to the arm or jaw, sweating, and breathlessness. During a heart attack, emergency angioplasty (primary PCI) done quickly restores blood flow and saves heart muscle. Every minute matters — never wait to ‘see if it passes’.

Most angioplasty and angiography is done under local anaesthesia — you stay awake but feel little to no pain, just mild pressure. There is no large incision, only a small puncture. Many patients are surprised how comfortable it is, and recovery is quick — often home within a day or two.

A stent is a tiny mesh tube placed in the artery to hold it open after angioplasty. Modern drug-eluting stents are designed to stay open long-term. You will need to take prescribed blood-thinning medicines and follow up regularly — with good medication adherence and lifestyle, stents work very effectively.

As a charitable hospital, our angiography, angioplasty and cardiac care rates are kept well below corporate hospitals. CGHS, ESI, PSU and government heart schemes are accepted as per entitlement, and our support desk assesses needy families for charitable subsidy — life-saving cardiac care should reach everyone.

Every Minute Matters for Your Heart.

Book a consultation for cardiac symptoms or advised procedures — but for severe chest pain, call our emergency number immediately, day or night.
