FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Surgical Oncology FAQs

Not always — it depends on the cancer type and stage. For many cancers, surgery offers the best chance of cure and is a central part of treatment. For others, chemotherapy, radiation or a combination may be preferred. Our tumour board reviews each case to decide whether surgery is right for you, and in what sequence with other treatments.

When appropriate, minimally invasive surgery uses small incisions instead of one large cut — resulting in less pain, reduced blood loss, faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay. However, it isn\u2019t suitable for every case; your surgeon recommends the safest, most effective approach for your specific cancer.

Our tumour board brings together surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and other specialists to jointly review your case. This ensures your treatment plan reflects combined expertise — the right treatments, in the right order — rather than one doctor deciding alone. It is the global standard for quality cancer care.

Possibly — it depends on your cancer type and stage. Surgery may be combined with chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapy, hormone therapy or immunotherapy. Your tumour board decides the right combination and sequence, and explains the plan to you clearly before treatment begins.

Recovery is an integral part of our care. We provide pain management, post-operative nursing, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, nutritional support, psychological counselling, and long-term follow-up — supporting your body and mind through the whole recovery journey.

As a charitable hospital, our surgical oncology rates are kept well below corporate hospitals. Patients under CGHS, ESI, PSU panels and government cancer schemes may receive cashless or subsidised treatment, and our support desk assesses every family for additional charitable funding.

Safe, Compassionate, Advanced Cancer Surgery.
